Nodes

A node is any computer running the network’s software and participating in validating and relaying data.

In depth

Nodes download blocks, check every transaction against the rules and pass valid data to their peers. Anyone can run one — it does not require mining hardware. The more independent nodes there are, the harder it is for any party to push through invalid changes.

Why it matters

Nodes are the network. They enforce the rules that protect your coins.
