Market Cap
Market capitalisation is the total value of a cryptocurrency: current price multiplied by circulating supply.
In depth
A coin priced at βΉ1 with a trillion tokens is far larger than one priced at βΉ10,000 with a thousand tokens. Market cap is the fairer way to compare asset sizes and is used to rank coins. It says nothing about liquidity β a large cap can still be thinly traded.
Why it matters
Judging a coin by unit price alone is a classic beginner error; market cap corrects it.
